Former Speaker, Hon. Mu’azu Gangara was impeached yesterday by the Kaduna State House of Assembly following a motion by Hon. Irimiya Kantiyok (PDP, Zonkwa Constituency), who accused  the Gangara- led leadership of masterminding the publication in some of the newspapers against them.
According to Hon. Jerry Kantiok (Zonkwa constituency), Gangara cannot be trusted. He said three newspapers carried stories that disparaged their persons as members who had gone to Abuja  and  met Sambo and collected huge sums of money with the intention of removing the Speaker of KDSHA.
“Hon. Gangara and his leadership did nothing to protect our image. Their silence means that they sponsored these publications. With these, we cannot trust to remain under their leadership. I therefore call for the impeachment of Hon. Gangara and Dr. Mato, his deputy," he said.
But the former Speaker, his deputy and certain principal officers of the Assembly have faulted the impeachment proceedings, alleging that Governor Yero orchestrated the action, bribing the members with N10 million naira each.
The Minority leader of the Assembly, Hon. Shehu Adamu (APC) claimed that Governor Yero held a meeting with the group that carried out the purported impeachment, just as he accused the vice President  of also having hand in the impeachment.
He said, “I can assure you categorically that we have learnt unconfirmed report that the Executive arm of government is involved in the matter, unconfirmed report has it that even His Excellency Dr Ramalan Mukhtar Yero met with them yesterday and up to N10million was offered to some people here that they should sign the impeachment of the speaker. This is an unconfirmed statement, when we confirm it, we will come back to let you know, but information also has it that not only Governor Yero that is interested in the impeachment of the Speaker but also his ‘Oga at the top’ (Namadi Sambo) may also have a hand in it".
But Governor Yero through his Director General Media and Publicity Ahmed Mayaki has described the allegation of his involvement in the  inpeachment and offer of money for the removal of the speaker as untrue, baseless and mischievous.
